Abstract

This article reveals the problem of translating emotional-evaluative vocabulary as a means of creating comedy in performances of the stand-up comedy genre. The first part of the article examines the specifics of humorous texts in the genre of "stand-up" and the difficulties of their translation, as well as the concept of emotional-evaluative vocabulary and the various features of its functioning as a means of creating a comedic effect. In the practical part of the study, the author carries out an analysis of the translation of emotional-evaluative lexical units in the Russian subtitles to stand-up performances of German comedians, which determine techniques and transformations used by translators in the process of subtitling stand-up performances, as well as the main difficulties they face in the process of translating emotional-evaluative vocabulary when translating humorous effect.
